From VR rental to face painting, these companies can help liven up any party
One thing that Beijing doesn't suffer from is a lack of things to do or parties to go to, but sometimes the time rolls around when you're the one having to make an event out of thin air. There are plenty of restaurants to take a group out for a meal, but when you want (or need) to level up your event game, it can be hard to know where to start. Whether you're planning your company's annual holiday get-together, organising a hen do for your BFF or pulling off an indoor music festival, here are five killer services to help you throw the best party ever.
Best for posterity: InstaPhoto Co.

The best events are all about those extra touches. Adding a photo booth into the mix adds a fun, interactive element and gives guests lasting memories in the form of prints and WeChat stickers. Luxe photo booth rental company InstaPhoto sends the whole set-up, including backdrops, props and attendants to help guests operate the booths, and offers customisable templates for prints branded to the event as well as the option of GIFs that can be used as WeChat stickers. There's the option for a green screen function, which means limitless backdrop options, and soon the team will be launching a new video booth with a whole range of functions like Boomerang-style clips, slow-mo and light painting.

Best for raves: Face Slap Beijing
The folks at Face Slap offer a variety of services for both kids and adults. Starting from 500RMB, the body art company sends their team to parties where they can work on any theme, from kids' face painting, to White-Walker faces for your GoT-themed party. Face Slap also paints neon designs for black lights at clubs and music festivals, so if you’re holding an underground rave with lots of UV lighting and want your guests to shine, make sure to get in contact. Venue painting starts from 1,200RMB.

Best for geeks: Virtual Reality Rental

Virtual reality (VR) is becoming more and more accessible, so much so that you now can hire your own VR machine for your party. Virtual Reality Rental brings the magic of VR straight to your party venue, whether it’s to liven up a quiet programme, or as a sideshow to your boogie night. Their unlimited four-hour packages come with headsets and accessories, as well as a team of attendants who will set up the VR rig and stay on to help guests operate the devices. Possible VR experiences include games, challenges, puzzles and videos. While there’ll obviously be a queue as only one person can have a go at a time, you’ll most likely still find yourself entertained as you watch people spin around furiously while screaming at virtual zombies coming to get them. That's prime douyin material just waiting to be shot, really.

Adults can also get in on the action at their survival parties where aspiring Bear Grylls-types can learn to make fires, build rafts and explore the great outdoors. Parties can last from a couple of hours to a whole day depending on the activity that you choose. Prices for adults start at 400RMB per person and a minimum of 13 people are required.
